Parents & Family

Fall 2020 courses will be, for the most part, online and we are still accepting applications and extending offers of admission. Campus tours are not available at this time, but we invite you to explore our Virtual Tour.

We are happy that your student has decided to attend York. Research proves that parent/family involvement is an important resource that improves a student’s productivity. We believe that parents and family members play a key role in the success of our students.

Our Family Program is here to provide you resources so that you can support your student in collaboration with our partners across campus. We hope to work with you by helping you empower your student to take personal responsibility for their social and academic goals and choices.

Whether you're helping your student through the application process or supporting them through the transition into college life, York is here for you.

Discover York and all it has to offer. If you are the parent or family member of a future student who is interested in York, we have all the information you need to ensure your student is prepared to apply.

Once your student has been accepted they are now considered a Current Student! We have all the resources and tools you will need to see them through their first year. From orientation to important dates and deadlines, you can stay informed as you help them pursue their educational and career goals.

Parents 101 Sessions

DATES: August 10 at 11am or August 19 at 4pm

Parents 101 sessions are a chance for parents and family members to hear from senior university members and learn more about how they can support their children through their first year at York.  There will also be presentations about student finances, student wellness, as well as information about first year student Orientation.  To register for a Parents 101 session, please ensure your child completes the registration form in YU START.

College Specific Parents & Family Orientation Sessions

At York University, each undergraduate program belongs to a college which provides academic and social support throughout a student's time here.

College Specific Parents & Family Orientation sessions provide an opportunity to learn about academic support services, social activities, recreational activities, and facilities related specifically to the College.

Don't know what college your student belongs to? They can find out using the College Finder.
